Jeff Smith - Winner of Dimmie Fleming Award from the EBU |
Many Congratulations to Jeff Smith, who was presented with the prestigious Dimmie Fleming Award at the LCBA Congress last weekend from the EBU's Jonathan Lillycrop.
The Award is named after Dimmie Fleming, who for almost 20 years ran the EBU from her home as its Secretary, earning her the fond title of "Mrs Bridge". The award in her honour recognises people who have worked hard to promote and encourage bridge in their area. Jeff Smith is a worthy winner, having served for many years on the Lancashire (LCBA Board) as well as being the Competitions Director at Bolton Bridge Club and a promoter and supporter of bridge in the North West and nationally. A quiet man, and very competent bridge player, Jeff was instrumental in ensuring Bolton and other clubs were able to smoothly and swiftly move to operating Online Bridge when the Covid pandemic forced all Clubs to close.
