We had a very successful bridge holiday in March 2025 to the Makeney Hall Hotel and are delighted to announce that we are returning once more to this hotel in 2026 http://www.makeneyhallhotel.co.uk The hotel is situated in six acres of landscaped gardens with countryside views. The hotel is a 15-minute drive from Derby and close to the town of Belper.
The holiday is open to all bridge players; it is not necessary to be a member of any club or county association to participate. It is designed to be fun for all from the inexperienced to regular club players. The holiday is also open to non-bridge players.
Our director for the holiday is once again Steve Wright who will be assisted by his wife, Anne, who will also act as host.
For outings there is a bus service nearby to Derby, Belper, Ripley and more. There are many tourist attractions nearby, which include Chatsworth House, Crich Railway Village and The Peak District or Matlock, Bakewell and Buxton and many others which can easily be reached by car, the bus services or taxi.
We are able to offer the same price as in 2025, but will be providing a 2-course evening meal. The basic cost is £355 per person if sharing a room (twin or double) and for single occupancy rooms £495. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms with bath and/or shower. Please indicate on booking form if you require walk-in shower.
The price indicated includes the following:
• Half-board accommodation. 2-course dinner to be served at 6.00pm so that we can start our evening bridge by 7.15pm – 7.30pm.
• On site complimentary parking.
• Gratuities for hotel staff.
• Seminars on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
• Evening bridge sessions on each of the 4 days Monday to Thursday.
• Optional bridge sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, which will either be supervised or self arranged depending on numbers attending these sessions.
• Masterpoints and prizes to be awarded.
• We would prefer if you have a bridge partner but as there will be a host available you are able to book without a partner, however when booking and you have a partner please state name.
• Travel cost to the hotel and return is not included and you will have to make your own way. Please indicate on the booking form if you are willing to take others in your car. Alternatively please indicate if you require assistance in getting a lift.
• We strongly recommend that you take out insurance in the event of cancellation as we cannot guarantee refund. We will however, wherever possible, try and find replacements should it be necessary to cancel on your part.
No booking will be accepted without a completed booking form. For payment details see booking form attached. Deposit of £55 should be made at the earliest.
