Bridge for Ukraine |
A tremendous day on Saturday in the Green Pointed event organised jointly by Kent, Surrey and Sussex County Bridge Associations. 360 people took part in the main Green Pointed Swiss Pairs and 316 in the 9-high event. Many thanks to the organisers from the counties and to the directors on the day (including Stephen Brown) for their hard work in putting on these events, which raised over £10,000 for the humnnitarian appeal.
Particularly noteworthy performances from Hugh Llewellyn-Jones and Susan Parkins who came 9th, and Graham Clements and Jan Johnson who came 36th in the Green Pointed event. Ian Galetti and Jenny Kerr and David Dodd and Helen Smithson also finished in the top half of the field.
Many thanks to all those who took part - and also to those who were unable to take part but sent donations.

Face coverings mandatory from Friday 10 December 2021 |
Following the Prime Minister's announcement on 8th December 2021 about the changes in the rules around the wearing of face coverings, it will be compulsory for these to be worn by everyone - unless exempt - when playing face to face in the Village Hall from Friday 10th December 2021 until further notice.
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own/face-coverings-when-to-wear-one-and-how-to-make-your-own#when-to-wear-a-face-covering
Some people have questionned whether it is OK not to wear a face covering at the club because we provide (limited) food and drink. The exemption around eating and drinking is 'Face coverings are' 'not required in premises or part of a premises where the main activity is eating, drinking...' It is the committee's view that our club does not fall within this exemption.
We will continue with face to face bridge whilst members still wish to come and the rules allow us to play. As the situation is (once again) changing rapidly, the committee will be keeping up to date with developments and will let you know if anything changes.
