Informal Teams Event |
Saturday 3rd May 2025
Mark Lincoln is running an informal Teams event on Saturday 3rd May in Perth Bridge Cub starting at 1pm finishing about 5pm.
There are several players, booked to play in our Swiss pairs on the Sunday, who are staying overnight in Perth on the Saturday, and the informal teams will offer these visiting players the chance to have a friendly game of Bridge with members of PBC in a social setting.
Teas and Coffees will be provided, but we ask for each team to bring cake (or similar) to share during the break.
The table fee is the usual £4 per person.
The number of boards played depends on the number of teams entered.
If you wish to enter please email perthbridgeclub@gmail.com
Ideally entries will be from teams of 4 – however Mark will try to match pairs to form teams if necessary.

SBU Policy Change on Simultaneous Pairs |
For a number of years, it has been the SBU policy that master points for simultaneous pairs events awards are only issued centrally, and individual clubs do NOT award the club points in addition. The SBU considered this to be a double award for the same event.
However, this has always caused some issues in that some clubs submit the points for processing anyway. This causes additional work either trapping the file before load or reversing it after inadvertently loading it.
It has now come to our attention that all the other Home Unions (EBU, WBU, NIBU, CBAI) allow clubs to award normal club points for their heat of simultaneous pairs events in addition to the points awarded centrally.
We have therefore decided that from 1st January 2025, for simultaneous pairs events, clubs may submit their points for award if they wish. i.e. The SBU will now follow the same rules as the other Home Unions.

Playing sessions at King Street
Tuesday evening face-to-face playing sessions at King Street take place each week starting at 6:45pm. This is the main playing session of the week, and more than 24 boards may well be played. If you want to play in this, but don't have a partner, then there will be a Host available to play with you every week, apart from the Competition nights on the first Tuesday of every month.
The club also runs a ‘Relaxed Pairs’ session at the club which is on Wednesdays starting at 6:45pm. This session always has a Host. This session is slower, chattier, and less competitive than the Tuesday Pairs play sessions. Fewer boards will normally be played.
The payment of table fees is now cashless via card only.
A Discuss & Play group has been meeting on Monday afternoons through the winter, but is now suspended for the summer - see Discuss & Play Group link for further details.
The club usually runs Beginners Lessons each winter. These have now started for 2024/25. Please see the Bridge Classes page for more information.
The Drumhar Bridge Club plays in the King Street building on Monday evenings from September - April.
The Perthshire Bridge League plays during the winter. Please see their website at Perthshire Bridge League, Perth (bridgewebs.com) for further details.
