A series of seminars are being delivered by Adam Hickman through the Friendly Online Bridge Club. The next of these is on Sunday 23rd March and is on Simple Lebensohl, aimed at 9 high players/improvers. All Midlands counties players are entitled to the discounted price of £15 rather than £17.50 and details and the sign up sheet are on the Friendly Online Bridge Club website

Welcome to Staffs & Shrops Contract Bridge Association

Entries have now opened for the Championship Teams green pointed event taking place at Newcastle Bridge Club on Sunday 18th May, starting at 11:15 a.m. 

This is an event open to all full members of Staffordshire & Shropshire Contract Bridge Association (eligibility via membership of an affiliated club or direct via the EBU or by paying the £5 County affiliation fee).  Click here for the poster/entry form.

With all matches completed on 14th April, the Seymour team have won the league and the Yardley team are second -  only one vp between them - many congratulations both teams for full results see here

The national final was played on RealBridge over weekend April 12th/13th, 7 Staffs & Shrops players qualified to take part, best placed the Midland regional winners, Robin and Dave coming 15th ahead of SSCBA captain and his regular partner David, See overall results.

Some 16 players from Staffs and Shrops took part in the Midlands Counties regional heat played on 23rd March for the EBU National Pairs competition following achieving a score of 55% or better in a club event during the period 2nd to 15th February 2025. Winners of this regional heat were regular MCOL players, Stafford members Robin Adey and Dave Nelson, pictured here, many congratulations both. Several others qualified to enter the finals. .

Welcome

Welcome to Staffordshire and Shropshire Contract Bridge Association (S&SCBA). The area covered by the Association ranges from the Welsh border in the West to Burton on Trent in the East, Newcastle under Lyme in the North to Ludlow in the South. Our objectives are to promote duplicate bridge in the counties, to encourage inter-club, etc., competitions and to employ the funds in the best interests of the game.

The County has teams of eight entered in the Midland League (Dawes, Porter and Markham) and annually enters a team in the EBU Tollemache competition. The Midlands league covers Derbyshire, Gloucestershire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire in addition to ourselves. The County also participates in the Edgar Foster Cups and Midland Teams Challenge Bowl, events for the six counties of Derbyshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire and ourselves.

During the winter months teams of four league matches for County members are held on the second Wednesday of the month, and there is also a team of four knock-out competition.  Inter Club Sim Pairs are run regularly, and, various pairs competition events are held annually.

County clubs affiliated to the EBU are Border, Bridge at AshleyEccleshall, Nantwich, NewcastleOswestry, StaffordTettenhallWolverhampton (note new address July 2023) and Wrekin
