Templeogue College Bridge Club
Newsletter Autumn 2025
Welcome Members to our new Newsletter
It is difficult to know what the best way is of communicating with the members of the Club. Yes, we have emails/WhatsApp’s etc. However, our contact details need updating (which we plan to address in Autumn), so we're trying the traditional approach for now a Newsletter!
The aim and key takeaway from a Bridge Club Newsletter is
- To keep members informed, engaged and connected to the club and the game.
- They serve as a vital communication tool for sharing information and fostering a sense of community.
- The content is tailored to the specific needs and interests of the club’s members
Templeogue College Bridge Club Committee
The Committee met on Friday 18th July. It was the first meeting of the new committee.
- Below is an explanation of some of the roles and names of those responsible for these roles.
Safety Officer: Pat Marron
Marshalls: Jackie Rogers, Bernie O’Connell and
Theresa Walsh
The above are responsible for moving people out of the hall through the appropriate exits in the event of a fire alarm.
Tournament Director: Ailbhe Mealy
The Tournament Director plans and manages the table set up and movements for each section. If there is an issue during play, i.e. incorrect bids, plays out of turn, exposed cards, or disputes over claims or calls the Director should be called. No player should feel embarrassed for having to call the TD, when you are unsure of the rules, it is better calling the TD.
Computer / Scorebridge : 8 members have offered their services.
As most of you are aware, during the summer we had several members, helping us with Scorebridge. Vivienne Nealon also offered a group of us an additional class for which we were all very grateful and learnt a lot.
We thank you for your patience and are hopeful that the new system we are putting in place will be a success.
- Financial matters
Those of you who attended the AGM will be aware that the Club ran at a loss last year. We are the smallest club in the Centre, so our membership and weekly club money barely covers the costs. The Committee agreed that our weekly sub will increase to €6 in September. We would ask members, if possible, to help our Treasurer in this regard and have the correct money on the night.
