  RealBridge version 1.0.7 - 9th August

New in this release

  • Director Chat
  • Bidding box: adjustments to clickable zones
  • Team names now bigger (in lobby view)

    Director Chat

The Director or Deputy Director can conduct private chat with one or more players whilst at the table.
Only the Director and Deputy Director can initiate a conversation. This is done by clicking “Private chat”.
The chat is visible to those players with the User + symbol.  Players who have the User – symbol cannot see the chat.
The director chat box has a red border, and covers the table chat.

    You might use this when:
  • You want to conduct chat by text rather than by voice with selected players - perhaps to make it easier to communicate, or because the player(s) do not have speakers.
  • You are using Google translate to copy and paste your communication to selected players.
  • The event is using screens, and you want only one side of the screen to see your text, and you want them to respond to you by text.

Bugs fixed

  • Explained bids by South were sometimes obscured on the right edge.
  • For a multisession event with an imported config file, BOARDS_PLAYED in USEBIO file was incorrect.

Bidding box: adjustments to clickable zones

We have adjusted the clickable zones for Pass and the 7-level bids. This is so that fewer people will open a grand slam in error.

Team names now bigger (in lobby view)

The lobby view of the tables now shows the team names in a larger font.

  RealBridge Version 1.0.6 - 23 July 2021

Summary of changes

  • Notification of player undo requests.
  • Using browser's Back and Forward functionality to navigate.
  • Sharable links to results and hands
  • Improvement to display of late explanations.
  • Improvements to display of player names.
  • Connectivity improvements.

Notification of player undo requests

A director or teacher can choose to be notified when a player asks for an undo. This is in the Settings dialog, accessible at any table.
The options are to see no notification, just a message, or a message and a bell sound.
The Director bell volume is existing functionality (used for director calls) but it now also controls the loudness of the sound for an undo notification.

The notification looks like this:

Using browser's Back and Forward functionality to navigate

All users can now use the standard browser Back and Forward buttons to navigate within the RealBridge application.

Standard browser buttons exist to navigate between pages. The screenshot above is from Chrome, other browsers have similar looking buttons.
Users can use the Back and Forward buttons when browsing results, or to move between the lobby and a table.
This navigation method is available when playing, when directing, and when using the kibitz server. The existing buttons are unchanged, so users can continue to use those for navigation.

Sharable links to results and hands

When viewing results (either using the session link after a session, or from the kibitz server), as you move within the results window, the URL (link) in the address bar changes.
If the URL is shared with other people, it can be used to take them to exactly the same place in the results window. This allows players and teachers to share links to interesting hands, ranking lists, etc, either by email or by posting on a website.

Improvement to display of late explanations

Using player alerts with written explanations, when a player makes an explanation late or adds to an explanation, the appearance has changed slightly:

The text to the right of the * shows information that was added 20 seconds after the bid was made.

Improvements to display of player names

To cater for unusually long , the typeface and font size for showing player names have been changed. We have also increased the maximum number of characters in a player's name.

Connectivity improvements

As part of our ongoing program of back-end enhancements, we have improved the part of the system that maintains the connection between a player and the server. This should help players to stay connected when they have network or bandwidth issues, with less need for manual reconnection.
