Jack Harris |
It is with great sadness that the club announces the passing of Jack Harris. The last time that Jack played was after his 104th birthday at the dupliCAKE session in October. Jack was such a good example of how bridge helps keep one's brain well exercised and he used to play regularly at the club with a variety of partners, at weekends in Worthing and also on holidays, with considerable success. He and his wife Angela won the Slam and highest score prizes at a charity bridge day a couple of years ago.
As a bit of background: Jack fell in love with flying as a teenager, joined the RAF at 19 and flew Lancaster bombers (550 Squadron) in WW II, meaning he must have been one of the handful remaining of his generation who served our country at that time.
The club will miss him and his happy demeanour.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday 4th February at 2.30pm at Tunbridge Wells Crematorium. If you wish to go to the Nevill Golf Club afterwards please let Sue Etherington know on her email: sueeth@btinternet.com

TWBC in The Telegraph! |

As you maybe aware we had the honour of hosting the EBU Premier league Division 1 at our club on 28th/29th September.
One of the players participating was Tom Townsend who is Bridge Correspondent of the Telegraph newspaper . In the attached article today he has written some lovely comments about our club and provided a very interesting hand from the Premier league.
