Bournemouth Holiday |
|
Fifteen members of WSBC (and 4 of their non-playing partners) spent 4 delightful days in Bournemouth. We stayed at the Hotel Miramar, which everybody agreed was excellent. The food in the hotel was superb and the service was great.
We played five sessions of bridge, joined by a local club bridge player, and two guests, to make up the numbers. The local player, John Goodyer, turned out to be a very good player and Barbara Lomax can attest to this, as together they came top! John organised his – now famous – quiz session, which rounded off the final evening.
The weather was also kind to us, apart from one wet & windy morning. As it happens this didn't matter - as we were playing bridge anyway that morning - and the sun very conveniently came out in the afternoon. There was lots to see in the surrounding area and most people made full use of their bus passes. David Liu and John Nott played a round of golf on one afternoon - and said it was a fantastic course.
All in all good fun was had by all and there was a strong consensus that it should be repeated in the future..
