SUMMER SESSIONS - 18 MAY UPDATE |
Unfortunately we have just been told that the Rothley Centre is to be closed for the month of May, reopening at 9am on 2 June.
This means that:
- the Year 1 refresher session will move to Hallam Fields Community Hall ** on that date at the usual start time of 10am.
- the Year 2/3 Duplicate session will be cancelled as no alternative venue is available.
- the first Year 2/Year 3 summer duplicate on 2 June, to be held at the Rothley Centre, will be the local heat of the Leicestershire Mercury Trophy, an annual competition for students around the county. Students who are already experienced at playing at Club level are welcome to play at that session, but will not be eligible to win the Trophy.
** The Hallam Fields Hall is on the Hallam Fields Estate north of Birstall - driving south to Leicester on the A6, pass the Birstall Park and Ride on your left and go right at the next traffic lights (300 yards after the Park and Ride entrance). That is Hallam Fields Road. The Hall is about 800 yards up that road on the right, in the community shopping area. There is parking immediately outside the Hall. The postcode is LE4 3LH.

SUMMER SESSIONS |
You don't have to give up your bridge over the summer! We will be running Summer Sessions, from 10 to 12.15 at the Rothley Centre.
These will be held on:
19th May, 2nd, 16th and 30th June, 14th and 28th July, 11th and 18th August.
For Years 2 and 3 there will be a combined duplicate session, and for Year 1 we will run a supervised play session covering the topics we have covered so far.
Each of these sessions will be drop-in, so there’s no need to pre-book. If you come without a partner, we will fix you up with one.
The cost for each session will be £3 per head payable in cash on the day. We hope you will be able to join us.

YEAR TWO'S - CAR PARKING AT WOODHOUSE EAVES |
Please see below a communication we have received from Woodhouse Village Hall - Stuart and Jim would appreciate it if you allowed plenty of journey time so that the lessons can start promptly at 1000 hrs
"I am writing to let you know that there will be a reduction in car parking spaces at the Village Hall from 24 February 2025 - 30 April 2025.
As you may know the Parish Council are embarking on a new building project to have a Village Green for Woodhouse Eaves and the work on this development starts at the end of February. As a consequence the car parking spaces located at the bottom of the car park, adjacent the playground and over looking the tennis courts, will be out of use.
This will mean a significant reduction in car parking spaces on site and possible congestion in the street.
Please bear with us during the period of time, and if possible walk to the hall, or ensure that any one using the hall is aware of the restrictions and makes suitable arrangements. I would be grateful if you could forward this email to your members or anyone using the hall for the period of your bookings."

CHARNWOOD BRIDGE TEACHERS - CONSTITUTION |
We have grown significantly (and beyond our initial expectation!) from the small class we started in Autumn 2019 to well over 100 Teachers, Buddies and students.
As a result, we recently decided to codify CBT's aims, management and structure. We now have a formal Constitution (click anywhere in this note to download a copy).
CBT's Committee comprises all six teachers, and the Officers are Chairman (Stuart), Treasurer (Gail) and Secretary (Richard).
All students are members of the Club and by virtue of membership, are treated as having accepted this Constitution. They most relevant segment for student members is:
OBJECTS
........
3. To provide and maintain an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere in which to learn.
4. To promote and uphold the game’s etiquette so that the learning experience remains enjoyable for everyone.
By paying their term fees, student members automatically agree to abide by the Constitution and the aims of CBT, in particular objects 3. and 4. above, and accept they too have a vital role in helping the Club to achieve these aims.
