The club is very sorry to learn that Colin Goldsmith passed away recently. He was a regular player at Hungerford over many years, greatly admired for his skill and wisdom at the bridge table, and also for his unfailing tolerance and cheerfulness. We are further saddened to hear of the death of David Barratt after a short, unexpected, illness. We had not seen him at the club recently since his regular partner became ill, but he continued to help us by administering our participation in Simultaneous Pairs events and he was also responsible for dealing our boards. David was greatly respected for his achievements as Chair, Secretary and Treasurer respectively at Newbury B.C. He will be sorely missed. In accordance with his own wishes, the funeral will be private. We extend our deepest sympathy to Eileen and her family.
