On Monday 6th April
A lovely but also a sad week at the club last week where we said farewell to, one of our old President’s and Honorary Member, Bernard. Bernard came, after our Red Nose Day tournament, and shared some lovely tapas with us – thanks to all those that helped in organising. A lovely atmosphere at the club, with Anne Muir, Jackie and Jane & Ed, joining us. Thank you to Mike for saying some lovely words for Bernard’s farewell and acted a short part of one of Bernard’s pantomimes – obviously with Bernard taking part.
It was lovely to welcome a new member to the club this week, Len Salter, and to welcome back Audrey, Bill & Sally and our guest Corry.
Our Easter Tournament is on Monday 6th April – put the date in your diary, plenty of prizes, tapas afterwards and we are running a lottery – tickets now all sold – lovely prizes – six in total.
Our thoughts are with a few of our members who are poorly – unfortunately last week I informed members that Barry had had a heart attack whilst in the UK. I ma so pleased to say that he is well on us his way to recovery after surgery and hopes to be retuning to Javea next week. Take care Barry and look forward to welcoming you back to the club shortly.
I have recently had a message from Susan Vickers from Australia who has settled in well. She was lucky enough to have arrived to welcome her new granddaughter in January and now has 4 grandchildren. She lives close to both of her daughters so is doing plenty of baby-sitting. She is also keeping busy playing pickle ball, table tennis, a walking group and aqua aerobics and still manages to play bridge twice a week. The club is a sort walk away – the club plays bridge 6 days a week she manages twice a week.
Wednesdays is a quiet day and those that use to come on Thursdays would find this day just as friendly – come and give it a try.
We still have no pair wanting to be our first member of the 70% Club in 2026 you just aren’t trying!!

If you have any signs of a cold or a cough, please stay away from the Club – we have a few vulnerable members. Also, we would remind you to dress accordingly - bring a cardigan, jacket, or shawl with these cooler temperatures.

Bridge bookings for w/c 23rd & 30th March are now open – slots available - you can e-mail the Club, use the sign-up sheets in the Clubhouse or TURN UP WITH A PARTNER BEFORE 2.00 LATEST. If you have signed up, please be at the club by 2.15pm.
