Calendar Notes & Updates
NABC Seminar This coming Saturday 05/31, instead of the mini lesson before the game, John Dickenson will be offering a seminar covering the North American Bridge Championships (NABC) which will be held in Philadelphia in late July. There are games for all levels of players and you do not want to miss the opportunity to play in a national tournament. Come early at 9:30 am to hear all about it.
NAP Qualifiers On two Saturdays in June, 06/07 and 06/21, we will be lifting the masterpoint limit from 500 to 750 (NLM). This will allow those who do well in the game to qualify to compete in the North American Pairs (NAP) District 4 finals early next year and compete for cash subsidies up to $1400 a pair to compete in the St. Louis NABC in March 2026. On these days we will open the game up to those players having up to 750 points, but you must not be a Life Master. We also plan to offer NAP qualifiers in July and August, so follow the schedule either on our website calendar or on the whiteboard at the club.
Stardust Week! Join us in any game May 29 – June 1 for 25% Gold Masterpoints!
Bi–Monthly Team Games Handicapped Swiss Teams are regularly scheduled on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month. Start time is 11:30 AM, with a light lunch served at 11:15 AM. Email the Club at kopbridgeclub@gmail.com to register or to request players to fill out your team. Please Note: In addition to our two regularly scheduled June games on the 2nd and 16th, we will have a third game on June 30.
Friday and Saturday Mini–Lessons start at at 9:20 AM. This is to allow sufficient time to set up and start the Friday Come Out and Play session and the Saturday 0–500 game.
Bridge Lessons for Spring 2025

Expert Deal Analysis Diamond Life Master Mark Henderson is offering expert analysis of deals played at the club that involve advanced topics. This addition to our website should be of interest to all levels of players. Most recent analyses can be reached from the main menu with the Deal Analysis Button. Archived material can also be accessed at left under the main menu. Mark is also giving in-person expert reviews of selected hands on Thursdays after the Open Game. He fields and answers questions with an emphasis on commonly encountered themes in bidding, declarer play, and defense. Conversation will center on advancing and intermediate players.
Additional Saturday Section for Advancing Players
We have added a separate section to our Saturday game for players with no more than 20 masterpoints if the number of players is sufficient. Winners in the 0–500 section will get masterpoint awards based on the total number of tables in play in both sections.
Points and Pointers Join us on Wednesdays for Points and Pointers, a real duplicate game designed for beginning and advancing players. The game is limited to players with 0–100 ACBL Masterpoints. Each table will play the same boards at the same time, and the leader of the session will discuss each board immediately after it is played. The table fee is $15, and the game will run from 12 Noon to 3:15 PM. Register by emailing the Club at kopbridgeclub@gmail.com or call 610–232–2250. You can also register in person at the Director's desk.

Free Mini–Lessons Our popular Friday and Saturday Mini–Lessons are regular weekly events, covering selected topics in offensive and competitive bidding, declarer play, and defensive principles. Lessons take place from 9:20–9:50 AM before the Friday Come Out and Play session (Ellen Luchette) and before the Saturday 0–500 Limited game (Rex Saffer). Conversation will focus on fundamentals and is directed toward advancing and intermediate players.
Rex and Ellen maintain separate online repositories of handouts distributed at lessons. Click here for Rex or here for Ellen to view or download these documents.
Come Out And Play Just getting started with bridge? Join us on Friday mornings from 10–11:30 am for a relaxed session of bridge. There will be no scoring, no masterpoints, and no pressure! – for only $10 per person. Come on out and drop in, no commitment or advance registration needed, and singles are welcome! Mentors will be available to answer any questions that may arise. This is a fun way to improve your bidding and play while meeting other advancing players.
