Most Improved Player - Roger Hughes Trophy |
Many congratulations to Margaret Keane, whose NGS rank increased by 1.9% in the year ending March 2025. She receives the Roger Hughes trophy for the Most Improved Player.
An honourable mention goes to Mark Ferris, whose NGS rank increased by 1.6% over the same period.

New Beginner Courses + Free Taster Sessions |
Do you know anyone who wants to learn to play Bridge? If so, please encourage them to try one of our Free Taster Sessions which we’re running in September.
These will be followed in October by a brand new year of Bridge for All courses. These have been developed by the EBU and are based on the Acol bidding system.
We need your help to encourage friend, family, neighbours and colleagues to sign up. They can find more information by clicking on the links under Learn To Play Bridge in the right-hand column of this page.

Café Bridge in Oxfordshire |
There are two café bridge events being held in Oxfordshire in September:
Burford Café Bridge on Thursday 4th September. This is a fundraising event for the Fulbrook Play Area. Prices from £30 per player (depending on lunch venue chosen). Email via this link to preregister. Bookings open at the end of July.
Henley Café Bridge on Tuesday 16th September, Profits in aid of the Calvert Trust Exmoor. £100 per pair. Click here to book.

Playing Bridge at the Clubhouse |

We are playing face-to-face (F2F) bridge at the clubhouse on the following days:
Monday mornings: this is a hybrid session with two sections playing the same set of hands - one section playing at the club, and the other on RealBridge.
Tuesday mornings: this is a Gentle Duplicate session with restrictions on experienced partnerships.
Wednesday evenings: duplicate pairs, except 1st Wednesdays when we play teams; John Deech pairs on 4th Wednesdays.
Thursday evening Supervised Play sessions are at the clubhouse and must be prebooked. Click here for more information about Supervised Play sessions.
Thursday evening Relaxed Sessions are at the clubhouse. No need to book in advance.
Friday mornings: this is a hybrid session with two sections playing the same set of hands - one section playing at the club, and the other on RealBridge.
Friday evenings: cross-Imp pairs on 1st Friday evenings only. Must be booked in advance. Not hosted.
Saturday Social: an opportunity to play relaxed bridge on Saturday afternoons at the Club.
As always please check the calendar for details. Pay for F2F sessions by card when you arrive at the club (except for 1st Friday evenings and Thursday evening Supervised Play which must be booked in advance).
Free tea and coffee is available at every session; the bar is open during the evening sessions.
All sessions (except 1st Friday evenings) are hosted, so you can come along without a partner. Visitors are very welcome.
