Yorkshire On line Summer League

Both of our teams are in the top division so some particularly tough fixtures this season. Both teams won one of their three opening matches. See RESULTS

A very convivial golf day took place on Wednesday 21st May at Bracken Ghyll with excellent weather too. Winning team was Nicky & Nigel Boot and David Storer (picture). Runners up  Hugh Lambert, John Williams and Malcolm Harding. Nearest the pin winner Hugh Lambert. Thanks to Kevin Smith for all his organisation.

Tony Harmer Funeral

A celebration of the life of Tony Harmer will take place at Stonefall Crematorium in Harrogate HG3 1DE on Friday 6th June at 11am followed by refreshments at Goldsborough Hall HG5 8NR.

Christina Powne is our new Chair of the Selection Committee for the winter teams of eight Yorkshire League. Typically we have five teams across five different divisions so all standards are welcome to play. There are seven matches each season on Sunday afternoons playing at home and away against clubs from across Yorkshire. Those who have played before will receive a questionnaire about the upcoming season but if you haven't played before/haven’t received one please contact Christina or send an email to the club via the Contact Us link.

FRIENDLY BRIDGE CLUB IN ILKLEY

Located in the centre of Ilkley, we are pleased to welcome  members and visitors to our well established club. Each week, there will usually be seven sessions in the club at 12 Wells Promenade. These are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings with play starting at 7.05pm, Wednesday morning at 9.55am and on Monday, Thursday and Friday afternoons at 1.45pm. There will be pivot teams on the second Friday evening and students social sessions on occasional Fridays at 7pm. We also run two on-line sessions each week on Monday (BBO) and Thursday (Real Bridge) at 7.15pm.  Please see the calendar and competitions for more details of all of our events.

Our Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning sessions are guided and hosted. They are designed for less experienced players and do not earn Masterpoints.

We would politely request visitors to arrive 15 minutes before the session starts and all members to be seated in good time to assist the TD and scorer to set up the movement. Upon arrival please remember to switch all mobile devices to silent.

We will invoice players for all sessions played and this will be  £2.75 members, £3.75 non members. Members can log in to see their own personal account. Please settle your accounts promptly by BACS if at all possible (otherwise by cheque). As our bank now charges for cash deposits we can no longer accept payment by cash.

Note our Wednesday evening duplicate Pairs are now hosted so you can come to this evening session without a partner and be guaranteed a game.

We will be holding a heat of the YCBA Handicapped Simultaneous Pairs on Wednesday 4th June with a usual start time of 7.05pm. This will be handicapped based on your personal NGS as at Tuesday evening 3rd June so a great opportunity for all members to play and be competitive. Scores will be consolidated across all twelve participating clubs in Yorkshire . Please sign up in advance to assist event planning. The YCBA has a prize fund of £200 - the overall winners from all the participating clubs will be invited to select a charity to which their prize money will be gifted.

The 2025 Yorkshire Mixed Pairs will take place at Huddersfield Bridge Club on Sunday 15th June starting at 1pm. Cost £48 per pair including a substantial tea. 48 boards to be played. See FLYER  for entry details.

The Yorkshire Festival of Bridge takes place at the Cairn Hotel in Harrogate on Saturday 28th June and Sunday 29th June. Multiple Pairs on the Saturday and Multiple Teams on the Sunday. There is also a Relaxed Pairs on the Sunday. See FLYER for entry details, times etc.

YCBA 6 High Competition
YCBA 6 High Competition

The YCBA has a new competition on Saturday 5th July at Wetherby Bridge Club aimed specifically at players with a NGS of six or below. This is a great opportunity for less experienced players. See FLYER for entry details. Cost only £15 per person including full afternoon tea. Early booking is recommended.

Guided Bridge

We run two sessions of Guided Bridge each week for less experienced players in the club on Monday afternoon (1.45pm start) and Wednesday morning (9.55am start). So do come along and enjoy a friendly, relaxed session lasting about two hours. There is a host available for our guided bridge sessions so you don't need a partner.

Our next Stepping Stones  in  the Club will be on ​​​Friday 20th June at 7pm. Specifically for those making the transition to playing bridge in a Club setting but open to anyone wanting a gentle, social and supportive bridge evening, No partner required and a bar is available.

Playing on line in Club events

Most weeks we have two on line Duplicate Pairs earning master points. Typically, we run a 20 board Duplicate Pairs on BBO  on Monday evening starting at 7.15pm and Thursday evening Duplicate  Pairs on Real Bridge at 7.15pm.
