Board Positions

The Board is comprised of 8 Directors, each serving a two-year term. Each year there is a turnover of half of the positions. This ensures that there are always people with experience remaining on the Board and provides an opportunity for all other bridge players to indicate an interest in serving on the Board. This year the positions of President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary need to be filled. It is always challenging to find new candidates to serve on the Board so we are very pleased that both the President and Vice-President will stand for re-election. The Secretary has served her two-year term and our current Director at Large has expressed an interest in running for that position. The Treasurer’s term has ended and our accountant is willing to sit on the Board as Treasurer. Lastly, we have someone prepared to fill the vacancy created in the Director-at-Large position.

These moves are summarized as follows:

TREASURER (Melanie Hamilton nominated)

DIRECTOR-AT-LARGE (Sandy Campbell nominated)

SECRETARY (Marlene Steele nominated)

PRESIDENT (Darrell Rowe nominated/seeking re-election)

VICE-PRESIDENT (Lyn Stevens nominated/seeking re-election)

Please note that all the positions are considered vacancies and we invite you to contact our Nominating Committee if you are interested in filling one of the openings. If more than one person is interested, an election will be held at our Annual General Meeting in May.  Job Descriptions for each of these positions are found on the webpage in the blue menus.  If you are interested in serving as a Board member, please contact one of the nominating committee members by April 12, 2026: Sandy Campbell (sandracampbell4336@gmail.com) or Lyn Stevens (lynstevens@hotmail.ca)

HELEN SHIELDS ROOKIE–MASTER GAME

The Spring Rookie Master game will be held on Monday April 13th at 1:00 PM.  This game is in memory of Helen Shields of Thunder Bay, past President of the Canadian Bridge Federation, who was deeply committed to teaching and introducing new players to duplicate bridge.  Rookies must have less than 100 MP.  Please sign up on the sheet at the club.

Our Duplicate Bridge Games

The following is a list of our games.  If you are a member of our club, the cost to play* is $9.00 per game (or buy a 3-play ticket for $25.00).  If you are not a member of our club, costs are 11.00 per play.   Coffee/tea is included.  Bring a partner and please arrive at least 15 minutes before the game start time to allow our Directors sufficient time to set up the game. * Cash only please.

Regularly scheduled games:

Monday 1:00 PM – There are two games that are offered, which play at the same time.  Under 100MP  - Both players must have under 100MP.  (Generally fewer Boards are played which allows more time for play per Board.  Cost for this game is only $6.00 for members and $7.00 for non members.) and an Open game – this game is open to all players

Tuesday 1:00 PMTwo players with under 750MP may play in this game. PBC Board has decided to allow players with over 750MP to play in the Tuesday game as long as they play with a player with UNDER 750MP. The intent of this rule is to allow for mentoring whereby an experienced player is paired with a newer/less experienced player.

Wednesday 1:00 PM Open Game - This game is open to all players.

Thursday 1:00 PM Similar to the Tuesday game, at least one of the players must have UNDER 750MP.

Our Bridge Lessons
The Peterborough Bridge Club recognizes the important role that bridge lessons play in attracting new members to the game of duplicate bridge and to our club.  We have gifted teachers who provide lessons and share their knowledge and time.  They are masters of the game and successful teachers of many students, most of whom quickly learn to love the game and become members of the club. .All of our lessons cost  $6.00 per class.

Need a Partner- here are some tips

Suggestions for Finding a Bridge Partner

-When at the club, consider inviting your current partner for another game or extending an invitation to someone new.

-Our website, under Members Only, provides a section where you may submit your name or search for available partners.

-There is a small board located under the clock at the club, where members can add their names when seeking partners.

-The website also offers a comprehensive phone list of all members.

Please ensure you make every effort to find your own partners. If you have exhausted these options, you may contact Sandra or Maureen for assistance. Kindly note that it is inappropriate to call both simultaneously, as this can result in multiple individuals contacting the same members.
