Masterpoint Fridays to become Friday PM Stratified Pairs

SCUNTHORPE BRIDGE CLUB

   FRIDAY PM STRATIFED PAIRS   

After a successful trial of this event on Friday 31st January, FRIDAY PM STRATIFIED PAIRS will now replace Masterpoint Fridays on a weekly basis.

The Friday evening sessions will remain suspended for the time being due to insufficient numbers. 

In the meantime, if any members wish to run a Friday evening session, they can arrange it between themselves and still use the club premises when required.

The Friday afternoon sessions will continue to run.

FORTHCOMING SIM PAIRS

We shall run a heat for the County SIM Pairs on Monday 7th April. Six Lincs clubs usually participate in this event. A good opportunity to pitch your game against other Lincolnshire players. Table money £3. District level masterpoints are awarded as it is a County event.

We shall run a heat for the EBU British Spring SIM Pairs on the following Wednesday 9th April. This is a national event which awards blue masterpoints. Table money £6. Visitors welcome. 7pm start.

COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS

Lincolnshire Contract Bridge Association

 

The County will be holding its Championship Teams of 4 at Dunholme on Sunday 30th March 2025.

 

We can enter as many teams as we wish. Anyone who would like to play, please put a team together.

  SESSION TIMES UPDATE  

Tuesday and Friday afternoon sessions will now revert back to starting at 1.30pm.

This will commence from next week, on Tuesday 11th February and Friday 14th February.

Thursday Improvers also has a new start time of 7.00pm, also starting from next week on Thursday 13th February .

  INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP

Seventeen players competed for the Individual Championship on Sunday 23rd March. A tightly run competition of fifteen 2 board rounds won convincingly by Helen Clapham, hotly pursued by Margaret McLeod. Well Done Helen!

♠  BAINTON TROPHY FINAL  ♠ 

RESULTS!

1ST PLACE - Mike Llewellyn and Keith Stewart

Ten pairs contested the final, playing a full Howell movement.  The top three pairs have the opportunity to represent Lincolnshire in the Corwen Trophy (essentially the national pairs final, played over a weekend). Winners of the Bainton Trophy were Mike Llewellyn and Keith Stewart, closely followed by Pat Lucas and Derek Crumpton in second and Rob Fabian and Brian Chamberlain in third place on a split tie.

Well done to the successful pairs, and good luck to all of them in the Corwen.
