CORNISH PAIR WINS NINE-HIGH CORWEN |
The inaugural National nine-high Corwen Trophy was played on both BBO/RealBridge on Saturday 31 May with three pairs - Maureen Brinton & Judith Williams, Ian Marriott & Norna Hughes, Colin Lee & Peter Smith - representing Cornwall.
Maureen and Judith had a fantastic 73%+ first session, and despite an uncertain start to the second session, finished with some good boards to score an overall 61.6%. This placed them first out of 51 pairs - which was over 2% more than the second placed pair. They each were awarded four green points for their endeavours.
It was a remarkable performance from them, so richly deserved for a pair who have enthusiastically supported club, county and national level events in recent years.
