BBO Country vs Country Online Championship

What better way to start the month than to represent your country? The Country vs Country game allows you to do just that. You'll be playing for yourself, as well as with your fellow compatriots. It's loads of fun and always one of the most popular BBOers Festival games.

Game Format

The tournament lasts 72 hours, from 1st Monday to Wednesday of each month. You can play at any time during those three day. You can stop playing and resume later. You can play all 32 boards in a single day, if you prefer, or split them over the 3 days of the championship. You play at your own pace.

The country scores are obtained as an average of the top 20 scores from that country + overall country average. Entry fee is 0.10 BB$ 32 boards, Matchpoints scoring, random hands.

The EBU has issued an alert to all its members that a website Bridge-warehouse.shop is purporting to sell many bridge items at half the price sold by the genuine EBU online shop. Please alert all your members that this is a SCAM and that it is nothing to do with the English Bridge Union. Under no circumstances should anyone order from this website quoting bank account details.

This site should not be confused with the EBUs own genuine online shop at  https://www.bridge-warehouse.co.uk which can be reached via the EBU website.

Opportunities for the Next Generation

While support for Chess continues to grow, Bridge seems to be suffering from a lack of sponsorship for upcoming generations. Arguably, if Bridge is not to die out in the near future, we need to get more young people interested in the complexities and challenges of the game. Below is a list of events and opportunities for getting a new generation interested in playing Bridge. ..........

EBU Nine-High Corwen Competition

For All NGS Players Rated  2  up to  9

Message from Chris Bickerdike (Cornwall County Bridge Association)

In an ongoing effort to encourage lower ranked players to play more competitive duplicate, in Spring 2025 the EBU is organising a new national pairs event for players with an NGS of nine or less. It is called the Nine-High Corwen (the annual national pairs for all ranked players being called the Corwen), and Cornwall can enter a maximum of three pairs into the final which will be played online, on either BBO or RealBridge, depending on each pair's preferred platform.

The Competition runs from 1st January to 30th April 2025 with the Final on 31st May 2025.

For more information, go to the Nine-High Corwen page on the EBU Website.
