  Objects

The Club endeavours to maintain a high standard of social duplicate bridge played in a comfortable environment.  Courteous behaviour is an exceptionally important part of that enjoyment.

New members are most welcome.

The Club plays to Level 3 standard using permitted conventions taken from the Orange Book and is affiliated to the EBU and the SCCBA.

The Wilton Bridge Club - Constitution

Name / Objective.

             The Club is named the "Wilton Bridge Club", hereinafter called the "Club".

The Club is established for the playing of Bridge, and to promote interest in the game.

The Club is affiliated to the EBU and the SCCBA, and abides by their rules.

Membership.

All applicants for membership must attend three playing sessions as a visitor before submitting an application.

Applicants will be referred to the website for information on the Club Constitution and rules.

Completed application forms shall be displayed on the website for fourteen days to allow members to make such comments as they may think fit to the Hon. Secretary.

The Committee may terminate the membership of any member for refusal to conform to the Club Rules or for unacceptable conduct. Expelled members may appeal at the AGM.

Subscriptions and Table Money

Subscriptions shall be determined by the Committee

Subscriptions are due on I March or on acceptance as a member.

            In the event of non-payment by I June membership shall lapse.

            Table monies shall be determined by the Committee.

Management

The Management of the Club is vested in a Committee consisting of the Chairman, Hon. Sec, Hon. Treas and not exceeding 6 (six) other elected members.

Officers and members of the Committee are elected annually at the AGM having been duly proposed and seconded. Names will be displayed on the website  for seven days before the meeting,

The Committee shall have the Power to co-opt up to two members during the year, and also have the power to fill any casual vacancies that may arise during the year.

A Quorum of at least four is required for Committee meetings, which will be held as necessary.

The AGM will normally be held on the first Wednesday of March each year.

An EGM may be called by any group of twelve members (or more) giving the reason in writing for such a request to the Hon. Sec. A period of fourteen day’s notice shall be given.

Financial Powers

The Treasurer will record all transactions and maintain adequate supporting documents.

The Committee will ensure that the Club has adequate insurance.

The Club will appoint an Hon. Auditor prior to the AGM and accounts will be ready for distribution to the Committee before the AGM and presented to members at the AGM.

The Club Rules may not be amended except by members at a General Meeting. Any proposals to change these rules must be displayed on the website for three weeks prior to such a meeting.
